First up, I felt compelled to go to the Library of Congress. For a future librarian, it seemed sort of obligatory. But the place also received high reviews on event/trip planning sites. And I can see why.
|I wore my Tims (probably the first time since freshman year). I forgot how heavy they were. Aren't these mosaics on the floor spectacular? I almost felt bad for walking on the art.|
Art on the ceiling, art on the walls, art on the floors, art in the pages, art everywhere. And everywhere a story. If it doesn't make you want to spin around and around and get dizzy drunk off of beautiful architecture, your neurons must not be sending the right signals.
We checked out one of the exhibition rooms with a curated collection of early America pieces- maps, globes, early dictionaries, etc. The best of course was a gold coin stolen by pirates.
