The applesauce was so good that I had to fill a few jars to share with friends I was visiting with later. Marmie acted a bit stingy though because it was so tasty, and she wanted it to last. The cinnamon and brown sugar almost give it that rich apple butter flavoring, but the texture is certainly that of lumpy sauce.
To make a batch, you'll need:
- 8-10 apples. Ours were small (slightly mealy guys from the farmer's market).
- 1/3 cup of water
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 cup brown sugar (packed)
Trust me, you'll make enough to share with friends, but you'll fill up the jars 3/4 of the way because you'll want it all for yourself. ;)

I made some stovetop applesauce the first fall we were back in PA, so delicious. I will definitely have to try this crockpot variety.
